What Is Holistic Wellness Coaching and Is It Right for You?
Holistic Wellness Coaching is a goal-focused approach for people who want to make meaningful changes in their personal or professional lives with practical guidance and accountability. It provides dedicated time to focus on the areas of your life where you want to make progress.
Rather than simply giving you advice, coaching helps you uncover your own insights, identify what may be getting in the way, and develop practical steps toward your goals.
Your goals might be personal, professional, relational, or somewhere in between. The coaching process is shaped around what matters to you and where you want to go next.
What Can You Work On With a Wellness Coach?
There isn’t one specific reason people seek out coaching. You might come in with a very clear goal, or you might simply know that something isn’t working and you’re ready to get help exploring the issue and how to address it.
Common areas of focus:
- Stress and anxiety management: Develop practical strategies for navigating everyday stress and challenging situations.
- Workplace communication: Build more effective communication skills and navigate difficult conversations with greater confidence.
- Personal relationships: Explore communication patterns, boundaries, values, and the relationships you want to build.
- Purpose and direction: Get clearer on what matters to you and where you want to put your energy.
- Life transitions: Work through periods of change when your usual routines or sense of direction no longer feel quite right.
- Feeling stuck: Identify what’s holding you back and turn a vague sense of wanting something different into concrete next steps.
The goal isn’t to tell you what you should do. It’s to help you better understand yourself, clarify what you want, and decide what comes next.
What Does a Coaching Session Look Like?
To better understand what a coaching session can look like, we spoke with Brian Falduto, a Professional Certified Coach who offers Holistic Wellness Coaching at Slope Wellness.
“Every session is different because every client comes in with different goals,“ says Brian. “You might spend a session working through a specific challenge, exploring a decision, preparing for a difficult conversation, or identifying patterns that are getting in your way.“
Brian uses an approachable, evidence-informed coaching style focused on helping clients uncover their own answers and turn those insights into action.
With ongoing coaching, clients may begin to notice changes such as becoming more flexible in how they approach challenges, communicating more effectively, and having a clearer sense of purpose and direction.
Sessions are available in 30, 45, and 60-minute formats, depending on your needs and schedule.
Is Wellness Coaching the Same as Therapy?
No.
Therapy is provided by a licensed mental health professional and can address mental health conditions, emotional disorders, trauma, and other clinical concerns.
Wellness Coaching is focused on personal goals, self-awareness, accountability, communication, life direction, and practical changes you want to make in your life.
Although the two can sometimes address similar topics, they are not interchangeable services.
As a Holistic Wellness Coach, Brian provides supportive guidance to help you thrive, complementing rather than replacing the care of a therapist, psychiatrist, or medical professional.
Who Might Benefit From Wellness Coaching?
You don’t need to have everything figured out before exploring whether coaching is right for you.
Wellness Coaching may be a good fit if you:
- Have a goal but aren’t sure how to get there
- Feel stuck and want help figuring out your next step
- Want to improve how you communicate with others
- Are navigating a personal or professional transition
- Want to better understand your values and what matters to you
- Have been putting off changes you know you want to make
- Would benefit from having someone help you stay accountable
You don’t have to arrive with a perfect plan. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation about where you are and where you’d like to go.
